Stephen Ministries is a program in our congregation that equips laypersons to provide distinctively Christian, one-on-one care to those who are experiencing all kinds of life needs and circumstances. Our Stephen Ministers work together with our pastors to reach more people with Christian care than pastors can reach by themselves.
Stephen Ministers receive 50 hours of initial training in important caring ministry skills and concepts and are then commissioned as Stephen Ministers. They serve for at least two years and commit to visiting another person regularly and dependably to offer support and care in a confidential relationship. Throughout their years of service, Stephen Ministers continue to receive education and skill-building in expressing God’s care through their lives to others.
There are times when each of us needs the care of another person, a Christian friend — a Stephen Minister! These times could include hospitalization, terminal illness, incarceration, death of a loved one, unemployment or employment challenges, divorce or separation, birth, adoption, aging, relocation, and many other life transitions.
"So, as those who have been chosen of God, holy and beloved, put on a heart of compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness and patience."
Colossians 3:12
