What happens during a Sunday morning gathering (church service?)

In total, The Fountain Sunday services are about an hour in length. Our time together begins with a welcome from a pastor or a staff member, followed by the worship team leading the church in music. Song lyrics are projected onto a screen so that you can sing along and/or engage with worship however you feel most comfortable. After the music portion of the service is complete, our pastor (or another speaker) will explain a Bible passage in its original context and identify lessons from the text that we can apply to our lives today. The Scripture passage used will be projected on the screen in the New American Standard Bible Translation, and there are copies of the same translation in the book racks on the back of seats. We celebrate what some call communion, or others call the "The Lord's Supper" every week. We serve a small cup of juice and a piece of broken cracker to any Christian who desires to join us in remembering the death of Jesus in this special way. Depending on the service, this may occur at different times.

What's the difference between the two services?

In an effort to serve people with varying backgrounds and style preferences the Fountain has been offering two different services since the beginning of 2020. In the contemporary service, lights are turned down for our time of worship through music. The music played is more modern, like what you might here on Spirit 88.9. The order of service is intentionally different, communion is given after the message, and the atmosphere is more casual. We don't "pass the plate" in the service, but do have an offering box in the lobby so that individuals can join us in equipping both our own ministry as well as ministries around the world.

In our mixed service, the lights are on for service, communion occurs before the message is delivered. Hymns and older contemporary songs are more prominent, but newer contemporary songs also occur. We frequently close in a hymn or a sung version of the Lord's Prayer. Before the pandemic, during one of the songs, we allow our members to give towards our church and the mission work we support around the globe. Currently we only use a box in the lobby so as to minimize touching and the spreading of germs. As a guest, please do not feel obligated to contribute.

What's the culture like at First Christian Church?

Sundays at The Fountain are warm, inviting and encouraging. You will find people present from multiple backgrounds and age groups. Average dress ranges from very casual and relaxed, to full suits. Come as you are and expect to feel welcomed as our guest.

In light of the pandemic, some individuals will be wearing masks the entire time, others take them off when they set down, and others will greet you with a smile. We distance more than we use to, but expect some smiles and waves.

What about my Children?

We want children at the Fountain to have a have a blast AND fall in love with Jesus so we make both a priority.

Our check-in system is set up to make it easy and provide safety for your children. For first time visitors, you can sign up as a guest or register your child(ren) at our computer kiosk. You will receive a printed tag for your child(ren) as well as a security tag you will need to pick them up. Then take them to their classrooms. Don't know where to go? We have volunteers who are there just to show you the way. Once a family is in our computer, you can download the Church Center app and check your kids in before you even arrive. When you arrive, scan your QR code and grab your printed tags. It's that easy.

We currently provide 1 classroom for kids 4-10, and one for nursery during both services. There is an additional "Cry room" for new moms where they can watch the service through a window but still meet the needs of their little one(s.) We hope to provide additional classrooms in the future.

Our kids ministry is optional. If you would like your children to be with you in during service, you are welcome to do so. We understand that kids fuss and cry and that will not bother our pastor or worship team.
